The Professional Nail Grit 100/180 is an essential, dual-sided abrasive tool designed for both professional salon use and high-quality home manicures. This "bread and butter" tool of the nail industry features two different levels of coarseness to handle everything from heavy-duty shaping to smooth finishing.

## Dual-Action Surface

This file is designed with two distinct grit numbers, each serving a specific purpose in the nail enhancement process:

  • 100 Grit (Coarse Side):
    • Purpose: Fast filing and bulk removal.
    • Best For: Shaping and shortening artificial nails (acrylics, hard gels, or polygel). It is also used to file down the surface of gel polish before soaking off with acetone.
    • Caution: This side is typically too abrasive for natural nails.
  • 180 Grit (Medium-Fine Side):
    • Purpose: Contouring and smoothing.
    • Best For: Shaping the free edge of natural nails and smoothing out the surface of artificial nails before buffing. It is the most versatile grit for a standard manicure.

## Key Features

  • Premium Quality Material: Made with high-quality sandpaper and a sturdy plastic or foam core that provides just enough flexibility to follow the curve of the nail without snapping.
  • Washable & Sanitarizable: Most professional 100/180 files are water-resistant, allowing them to be rinsed and disinfected between uses for maximum hygiene.
  • Ergonomic Shape: Usually available in Half-Moon, Boat, or Straight shapes, providing a comfortable grip and better leverage for precise filing near the cuticles.
  • Long-Lasting Durability: Designed to resist "shedding" or losing its grit quickly, ensuring a consistent filing surface for multiple sessions.

## How to Use

  1. Shape: Use the 100 grit side if you are working with acrylic extensions to quickly take down length or square off the tips.
  2. Refine: Switch to the 180 grit side to smooth the edges and refine the shape of natural nails.
  3. One Direction: Always file from the corner of the nail toward the center in one steady stroke. Avoid "sawing" back and forth, as this can cause natural nails to peel or split.
  4. Finish: Follow up with a high-grit buffer (240+ grit) if you desire a high-shine natural finish.
